Thanks! Yeah, luckily the spine split is discreet at least.

I mostly collected ECs in the mid-to-late 90s. The Gladstone reprints in the early 90s were really what got me started. When I began looking, I hit comic shops all over NYC and Boston and was basically happy to find anything at all. Towards the end of the 90s, Metropolis (where the WF #21 is from) and comic cons were my main sources. I've since sold most of them off, but occasionally still nab one here and there, largely on ebay.

Ok, thanks. I imagine the prices were much more inline back in the 90s. I know I will not be able to afford collecting complete runs of the ECs so, I just ordered the Gladstone/Cochran annuals for all of Haunt, Tales, Crime Sus, Shock Sus, Vault, WS, WF and WSF - found them for good price online. At least this way I can read them all and just seek out original favs.

Weird Fantasy #22, last issue of the series before WF and WS were combined. Nice color strike on this one...

Is this the first Orlando cover you put up? Again, I love the sci-fi covers

Yep, I think that's the only Orlando cover I have left. Thinking about it, he really didn't have a chance to do too many sci-fi covers for EC, what with Feldstein and Wood grinding out so many all the way through the runs and Williamson stepping up towards the end.

Here's Weird Science #21, one of the last issues before the two titles merged. Another top talent issue with a great Wood cover, sweet Williamson/Frazetta art, nice Jack Kamen job on a Ray Bradbury story and much more.

Hey! I actually was able to pick up a copy of this very recently. Yours looks to be in much better condition though. Nice book.

Weird Science #22, last issue before the merger. Another amazing issue, with a classic Wally Wood story, one of his best ever.

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with these ones at the end of the runs. I sold off my earlier ones, but couldn't let these go. :)

My last EC... Weird Science-Fantasy #25. Al Williamson on Ray Bradbury's "A Sound of Thunder" cover and story. It doesn't get much better. (These white-covered WSFs can be tough to find without a lot of yellowing/tanning to the cover paper... this one's not too bad.)

I guess we have similar tastes, as this is another one on my EC wants.

Thanks for posting your ECs. I really enjoyed seeing your collection. The condition of your books look great overall - gives me something to shoot for; hopefully without breaking the bank.

It was fun to revisit these. Thank you Paul for all the kind comments along the way. :righton:

I figure I'll take a short breather for the next week or two, then come back and post some more GA. Happy 4th, everyone!

I look forward to it, but following your posts can be hazardous to my wealth.

By the way, Heritage is auctioning a number of low-to-mid-grade ECs, all finishing Sunday night... Just saying. :whistling:

Ha, thanks! I'm actually tracking some of them. I haven't placed any bids yet, but my clicking finger is at the ready.

Thanks, but they may be getting a bit too pricey - we'll see.

I hear you on that! I took a stab at a few of their early DCs last night, but no luck.

Even worse for NYers is that Heritage now charges NY sales tax for their auctions, since they opened a storefront office in midtown. So when I see books I really want, I have to be prepared to pony up an extra 9% to outbid everyone else... :2sad:

OK, let's dust off this thread a bit. I'm going to (sporadically at least) post some Fiction House books from the 40s. Fiction House is another series/genre I love, but I've sold quite a bunch to finance other stuff. Still got a few good ones left tho!

Rangers is a really underrated title, especially the first 35 or so issues. Really cool GGA covers and stories sprinkled throughout. Here's #21:

Cool! I'm not very familiar with a lot of the Fiction House books. This will be good...

www.comics.org

You can get a lot of this type of information on this site. It's not always correct when it comes to the Golden Age, but still pretty good.

That saves me from answering what I was going to answer, which is "I don't know". There were a lot of Fiction House cover artists, and it's harder for me to tell them apart than, say, the EC artists. But they sure did some nice work!

That makes sense. I know he did the cover to #26, which is one of my all-time favorites...
