I think that the main problem with eBay is in the higher grades (VF and up) due to lax grading and the possibility of restoration. For mid and low grade I have no problem with the Bay.

Right, if all you are wanting are good, mid-range books to fill a collection, eBay can have some great bargains!

I love the books as well! :applause:

Thanks guys. Yep, point taken re ebay. :) I've generally had pretty decent luck with ebay grading from low to high grade (avoid certain sellers, avoid small pics, ask questions...), and have returned the books that clearly didn't match their descriptions. I guess though if you're buying raw 9.4s you are probably going to have more misses than hits (and will need nerves of steel!).

Onward with the WDCSs. Here's #44, one of my very favorites... awesome Walt Kelly wartime cover (and a quite unique gag!) with deep colors. This was a CGC 5.0 that I liberated from its slab (there's an extremely discreet bottom spine split, else it's an easy 7.0).

That is a great cover! Walt Kelly is one of the greats and you can sure see his that this is his work. One of the best presenting 5.0's out there I'm sure! :righton:

Well, one good Walt Kelly cover deserves another... particularly another that I already have scanned. :) I'll try to finish up the #45-50 run next week.

This is #87, another Kelly fave of mine. So cute, so imaginative, and I love the expressive body language of the little critters.

Walt Kelly is one of my favorite artist. Nice, early WDCS's Jon. :applause:

Thanks Mike! And finishing up my last few early ones,

Here's WDCS #45. A frankly bizarre cover, but I quite like it. (What is up with that evil duck head, anyway?)

You need to add a 4-Color #16 to your collection :evillaugh: It'd CERTAINLY round out your Disney book collection! :righton:

Why, you selling one? :baiting:

I kind of go hot and cold on the Four Colors. Some of the Donald and Scrooge Four Colors are all-time classics; others are so-so. The earliest ones are definitely cool, but I don't really want to spend what it takes to nab them... heck, the first few approach pre-Robin-Tec territory in price.

WDCS #46... classic war bonds cover. You can build a fun GA collection (many have) just hunting all the various war bonds/war stamps covers across the superhero and funny-animal titles.

Finally, here's WDCS #50. Huey, Dewey and Louie are sure nasty little buggers on this cover, aren't they?

Thanks amigo!

Well, that's as much as I've got on the early WDCS run. I think the duck books have run their course here, so we'll call it a day with those. I'll be back posting something else shortly. :righton:

Appreciate the kind words, troops. This is fun for me too.
Well, since pwog has had ECs on the brain, figured I'd switch gears and post up a handful of those.

That's the spirit! :score:

Unfortunately, over the years I've slowly sold off most of my ECs to finance other books, as my interest in 1940s GA reached fever pitch ... but, still do have some neat ones left.

Couple of Crime Suspenstories first. These Crimes are such underrated books (well, with the exception of #22 I guess!). I highly recommend the #16-19 run, which I've since sold. I tend to like these middle-to-later ECs, where the art and writing really reached their peaks.

Here's one you guys probably already know.... CSS #20 with the classic Johnny Craig cover. Top lineup inside as usual (Craig, Davis, Kamen and Reed Crandall).

Funny, as my GA fever is just beginning. I just love the cover art of the GA Sci-fi/horror books; EC, Planet Comics, Avon, Startling, etc. Must ...learn...more...help....

I love that whole lineup as well! IMO, you can't go wrong with GA sci-fi. I've got a few Planets too... I'll get to those.

Here's CSS #21. The deep rich background colors of this cover look super nice on high grade copies (this isn't one...). A particularly nice Johnny Craig story opens this issue.

Something about this cover, I really like - perhaps the red dress against all the darker tones...

Thanks, Jon keep them coming
