Great looking books. Love the Brent Spiner sig. :righton:

I sent the ECCC guys an e-mail and asked if they could reserve a room for an indoor trade and sale type garage sale for people like me that can't afford the dealer pricing. One table for a day or something. I'm thinking they will just ignore me but seeing how they usually sell out early I don't see how this would hurt their business - does this sound crazy?

Sounds like a creative and interesting idea. Spin it as a "collectors' swap room."

You never know. Let us know how they respond.

Got a reply from the director and he said he couldn't make any promises but they like to add new stuff and they'll take a look at it. I guess time will tell. I was also thinking this would be a "cheaper" way of doing some advertising for the CBCA.

I have heard of conventions (not comics) where the hotel rooms themselves become sort of "booths". Collectors leave their doors open and people come by and visit to buy/trade with each other. I guess there'd have to be a comfort level on having strangers coming and going into your room but obviously, you'd be there as well. I think Chuck Rozanski mentioned it happening when he wrote about his pottery collection in a Mile High newsletter.

I was thinking the rooms that are reserved for panel discussions. Maybe getting one of those for a day. Besides, after getting burnt for overnight parking I doubt I'll ever get another room (I was charged more for parking than my room).

I also don't think he was very amused when he asked where I wanted it signed and I replied "anywhere, but on your face." There was just way too many people but he may have been better later on with the photo op session (I didn't go back). I'd like to add Nemoy's sig but from what I've read he's no longer making appearances and I did see the same book on Feebay with Nemoys sig, but at $500 I decided to pass.

Nimoy doesn't sign as much, but he still does on occasion. The trick will be finding him in venue where there is also CGC SS.

In my view, Shatner (or Nimoy) is very desirable as well as a good CGC SS investment. There will be long term demand, unlike some of the flavor of the day creators.

Looks like Nimoy will be at DragonCon and Desert Winds will be there as a CGC facilitator. :D
