I don't remember this river, or any water, in the first book. I noticed a river in the trailer for the movie as well. I am I right or is my memory failing?

I think the canals were mentioned in passing, but nothing about crossing th e river or the monsters in it. I think JCB must have added in a little original material to keep the action moving.

I remember the canals as being dry and used as road ways. Anyway, this is certainly a departure in the story and perhaps a low point in the art work so far.

Hi Buda! Welcome to the boards.

I'll have an article on John Carter in the comics for the next issue of Comic Book Quarterly. Be sure to check it out.

I thought people might be interested in something other than a JCB version of John Carter. Here is something from Allen St. John, one of the greats of fantasy art.
