Netflix just announced a significant hike in their pricing if you want both DVDs by mail and streaming content.

Good, bad or indifferent?

Personally, I am not thrilled, but the service did seem pretty inexpensive in the first place. My service is going from $14.99 to $19.98 a month. That's for 2 DVDs at a time plus streaming content.

I'm dropping it. My wife and I barely make good use of it as is and we already have DVR. Between the library and Redbox, no point in keeping the subscription up.

Wow...
I'm on the "Unlimited Streaming and 1 DVD at a time" plan and I'm going from $9.99 to $15.98. :2sad: This is after going from $8.99 to $9.99 at the beginning of the year.

We went from the 2 DVD service to just streaming and my children use it the most. So we get our moneys worth where as when we had the 2 DVD service we never seemed to get the movies returned in a timely manner and unless we reserved the movies way in advance they never had any current movies we wanted to watch. Besides, I just added HBO to our cable service and we've got a lot of catching up to do on several series. HBO Go is going to give them a run for their money (especially if you have 4G).

I'm going to stick with 2 DVD + streaming for the time being at $19.98. Frankly, it is the same price I was paying for 3 DVD at a time before they had streaming.

The streaming is great for the kids. There is a ton of good wholesome stuff for them and it's all commercial free.

I also watch a lot of old film noir, documentaries and foreign which are all pretty robust on streaming.

We'll keep the DVDs for the new movies, HBO shows, etc.

I'm thinking I will cancel Starz on Direct TV because most of that content is available on streaming Netflix.
