Welcome to the CBCA Amateur Art Contest.

Thanks to all who submitted. We have great entries submitted by amateur artists. All of the entries show passion and a love of the medium.

How to vote
Please review the submissions and rate each one on a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the highest score. The submission with the highest total points is the grand prize winner. The submissions with the next two highest point totals will win runner-up prizes.

There are two categories - adults and minors under age 14. For the adults, the grand prize is $100 with $25 runner up prizes. For the minors, the grand prize is $25 with $10 runner up prizes.

Voting commences immediately and ends June 13, 2011, midnight Eastern time.

Notes
* The rules did not specifically limit contestants to one submission, and one contestant submitted more than one entry. We are allowing this, however, this contestant can only win one prize. If two of his entries place in the top three, we will disregard the second submission and award the prize to the submission with the next highest amount of points.

* In the event of a tie for any of the top three positions, we will conduct a tie-breaker round of voting.

I am simply amazed by the talent of everyone who has entered. A special kudos to the three submissions in the Minor category. A definite force to be reckoned with in the very near future.

Wow. Never fails that someone has to push the envelope containing the rules. I guess it depends on whose definition of amateur was used. :lol:

b) whether he did the pencils or just the coloring.

Sorry, I think this entry goes entirely against the spirit of the competition, and should be removed.

Judges need to vet this thing a little tighter.

Just looked back at the eligibility rules, and they say

The spirit of the contest is to host a competition among those generally considered to be amateur illustrators. Anyone may enter with the exception of: individuals who regularly receive income from illustration, and/or individuals who are widely recognized as a professional illustrator, past or present.

so while I hate to see anyone go (bias disclaimer: I've got a piece in the contest myself), I'd respectfully agree. I assume both of the guys involved in this piece are DC regulars.
