Think how much Shatner made at $70 a pop. I heard that Leonard Nimoy did a con where he sold 1,000 signed pictures at $80 each. That's $80,000 cash money, plus the con owner pays the star's way and puts them up in a hotel.

I know it sounds nuts, but that is small potatoes.

Michael Jordan is doing a private signing next month for the base price of $699 a signature on an 8x10. You want a basketball or jersey it costs way more.

Derek Jeter base price is $500 a signature with Steiner Sports.

For sports stars, a quarter million dollar signing session is nothing.

Some astronauts have been paid a half million bucks for a day or two of signings.

It's crazy, but really no crazier than spending $500 on a common bronze book because it has a 9.8 on the label.

Pizza and wings. We were cooped up in the house most of the day, so we all escaped to the pizza parlor for a bit of a treat.

Wow. Talk about 'fast' service. 4 weeks and my submission has moved to the ready for grading inbox. I don't know about anyone else but I'd be in the unemplyement line if it took me more than 4 weeks to get my job done (then again I work for the gov. so I'd have a few days).

The three books I submitted using the Collector's coupon were graded and I received them last week.

I've replied to myself a few times here. Grades are in and I'll post the books and finish off this thread until next year. What books did you get back JazzMan?

Here are the three I got graded. I was pleased with the ASM 6 & 47 and a little disappointing with the ASM 35 but I knew there was a risk that the lower spine would be hit hard, although it's the nicest ASM 35 7.0 you'll ever see.

I also picked up a few modern Captain Americas that I was missing and a good number of cheap Wonder Woman books from her women's lib period.
Here's a few more that I picked up at the ECCC worth noting:

Really nice books, Claudio! :applause:

The ASM 35 looks great. From the scan, it's hard to tell what is going on with the lower spine.

I'm jealous Claudio, those are really nice. So Steve, I thought you were on vacation? Did you sneak away? I was going to do the big reveal but since you asked... 9.8, 9.8 and the 9.6 I posted.

Just got back from a week at Disney this afternoon. Catching up on lots of emails and the message board!

After a week in Orlando with the wife and kiddies, I need a vacation to recover from the vacation!!

2 CA/MA Star Trek #1s. The Shatner sig didn't show up very well. Haven't seen the others (Riker and DATA). :(

I'd really love to get a Shatner SS.

Did he sign in black on the dark cover? (if it's the ST #1 I am thinking of.)

How was he? I hear he can be a bit dismissive... but I he seemed okay when I met him years ago at a Creation Con.

He signed it with a silver pen but it didn't show up very well. He looked kind of out of it (like he just woke up) and they were pushing people through the 1000 plus line so he didn't say much. I also don't think he was very amused when he asked where I wanted it signed and I replied "anywhere, but on your face." There was just way too many people but he may have been better later on with the photo op session (I didn't go back). I'd like to add Nemoy's sig but from what I've read he's no longer making appearances and I did see the same book on Feebay with Nemoys sig, but at $500 I decided to pass.

Nimoy doesn't sign as much, but he still does on occasion. The trick will be finding him in venue where there is also CGC SS.

In my view, Shatner (or Nimoy) is very desirable as well as a good CGC SS investment. There will be long term demand, unlike some of the flavor of the day creators.

What a shame since Nimoy was at ECCC last year and I think I remember Rich Henn got a sig from him and CGC was witnessing.

Star Trek #1 4/1980 - Signed by William Shatner (see the lines on his chin).
Image
Star Trek: Next Generation #1 1/2008 (Virgin Cover) - Signed by Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner (DATA). Nice sigs on this one.
