New acquisition: X-Men #9 with the exact date stamp as my verified Green River of Sgt. Fury #14, purchased from Jim Haack in October of 2003. These two books arrived in the Spokane drugstore, where the collection originated, were stamped on the same day, and now, over 46 years later, have been reunited.

Here's an enlargement of the two stamped dates on the two books ... the top one is a bit purple-ish, having been red stamped on top of a blue background ... you be the judge.

Thanks. That X-Men 9 is pretty cool ...

I've only seen a handful of the X-Men books in the GR collection ... there are 53 listed in the collection, and I've only seen about 8 or 9. The lowest number issue I've seen is a copy of issue 8, which unfortunately, Matt Nelson got his hands on before I did, and pressed. And before anyone has a cow, he told me himself that he did when I queried him, and for the record, I threw in a couple of healthy bids on it, although I didn't win it.

And I also own these two books which also carry the same date stamp ... (I almost forgot about these!)

Congrats on the #9--gorgeous book! I'm guessing Matt has no intentions of letting his #8 leave his collection?

Thanks guys!

Matt sold the #8 on Ebay a couple of years ago. As I said, I put in a couple of bids, but didn't win it. Knowing that it was pressed, and it was my personal choice to take that into consideration when bidding, I didn't pursue it as aggressively as I might have otherwise. But I did appreciate Matt filling me in without hesitation.

By the way, some of the earliest descriptions of the Green River books mention that they have red "or" purple date stamps. I think that looking at the Sgt. Fury, you can see where the confusion over the purple stamps might have come from. All the books that are stamped, (which is about 95% of them) have red stamps.
