How is this a NM/9.0 book? Scuff marks from printing left and right cover?

I don't see it at all! My rough guess would be around a 5.5 or so. That is quite a bit of scuffing and the crease at the top is pretty noticable. I just don't think that much scuffing is really allowed on higher grades. :2cents:

Between the color rub and the crescent crease at the top, I'd say 6.0 at very best. Maybe lower as Mike C suggested.

I wonder if it was at the top of a bundle and the string rubbing caused that color loss.

I didn't think about that. It looks like something like that happened. There is alot less rubbing on the right-hand side so it could be that it wasn't as secure and the left-hand side was able to move more. :dunno:

It is. That is why we are questioning the grading on this book. It doesn't appear to be a VF/NM copy but the seller is advertising it as such.

I thought Fine range as well, although at $250 it is being priced like a F/VF. I never understood why this common, late 60s book was priced so high?????

This seems to be one of the few books that got a movie bump that really retained much of the bump.

I sold my undercopy (around 6.0 if I recall correctly) for over $300 prior to the movie. :yipeeeee:

Currently at $410. Someone's NOT going to be happy when they get the book and actually take a good look at it. Last time I looked Quality had this book at <$500 for an 8.5 (starting bid - not sure what the BIN was).

People are blind. It is at 565.55 as of this writing, and that is just RID-donk-ULOUS! My grade would be a 5.5, absolute MAX!

I haven't been bothered to even look at the listing, is the photo as good quality in the listing? I think people are blind bidding, seeing the title and grade and not looking any further.

In the listing the seller states:

-Scuff marks from printing on the left & right side of the cover
(They are from printing because they have gloss coated over them)

Whatever happened to eye appeal? It seems like in the CGC era of grading, as long as something is "production related," the ugliness is supposed to be disregarded -- no matter how fugly.

Even so, without the scuff marks, the crescent crease and other wear puts it no better than 6.5/7.0 IMO.

Wow...$641 for this book. I knew I should have kept that one I had graded on here with the ugly crease (it looked better than this book).

Even if you had kept it, you would have to misrepresent it when selling to get this kind of price.
