Nice books, Mike!

If I already didn't have those issues, you would've had some more competition! :evillaugh:

At one point I owned the Winnipeg copies of Avengers 2, 3 and 4. My Winnie Triplets I called them.

Very cool :o

I can see the Winnipeg mark on # 2 & 4, does #3 have one? #5 doesn't.

Yes, there was a signature right across the yellow of the title .... I'll see if I have a larger scan of that one ...

I do.

Thanks for that.

It's funny that the # 5 didn't get one. :??? Not that I'm complaining, I've got a preference for "clean" covers.

I'd love to find the GR copy of AV 27. That's a great cover and a hard book to find in high grade as it is .... Nice book! :righton:

Thanks... next to Avengers 25, it's my favorite cover in the 20s.

Four Against the Flood-tide!

They don't do banner like captions on covers anymore. :((

This ish took a long time to find in high grade. It came from what I call the Pineapple Pedigree, the original SA collection that belongs to Bill Silva (and was amassed by Bill's dad) in Hawaii. It's amazing to me that so many old books from this Hawaiian collection survived with snow white pages.

:applause:

That is a tough book in grade. Come to think of it, amassing a collection in Hawaii in the 60s must have been tough. You'd think there would have been poor distribution there.

Without a doubt, Bob, that is one of the toughest in the title to find in high grade. I owned the Pacific Coast 9.4 copy at one time. I later asked Doug Schmell if it had been pressed and he was truthful about it, so I returned it for a full refund.

I didn't even think that the new comics may have arrived irregularly - I'll ask Bill some time if that was a problem for his dad.

Thing that amazes me is the very high quality of the paper, even in the face of the year-round heat and humidity of the islands. Just about all the early SA from Bill's collection that I've seen graded by CGC has come back with white or, at worst, off-white to white page quality.

This one is inbound sometime in the next few days...

Just one more reason why my books have earned the "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Pedigree" designation ;)

Just thought I'd bump this thread.

Not the most spectacular issue in the Avengers run but I still think it's cool.

These aren't high grade but I've been really workin on a run from #1 to 200 and something. I bought these off the CGC board and they fit right in with most of the mid grade stuff I collect. Still have the expensive ones on the list - 1, 3 and 4. Number 4 seems to be going for a lot these days. I just read #32 along with a few others around it the other day and Stan Lee really wasn't that bad of a writer. The humor he injected into the script was a nice change from all the doom and gloom these days. It brought back fond memories of when I enjoyed reading comics in my younger days. I also actually enjoyed Don Hecks art as well. Not the best but way better than a lot of the stuff on the stands these days. Which reminds me, I saw a couple of his pages for sale at ECCC for issue 33 at $900 each. Too much for me but a bargain considering how much other work is selling for. This has gotten way too long...

A man after my own heart. Great group of books. :righton:

I just picked up 15 myself last fall... not a bad read and the death of Baron Zemo!
