Thanks Steve (& Claudio),

Quite right, I'm not seeing the gold icons you show in the left columns. All the icons I see in each subforum are blue (a dizzying mix of shapes and sizes, such that making sense of them is too much work and I go over to the right to look at the date column). And the "master" forum overview page has all generic blue icons for me. I'm on Firefox 3.5.2 for the Mac, so maybe the Mac factor is why I'm not seeing the gold icon display.

I just think it would be ideal with color-coded bands like on the CGC forums... 'twould be a VERY quick visual cue as soon as you look at a forum if the new-post threads are cream-colored or whatever instead of white... and same with the overview page, if the forums with new posts were cream-colored as well to stand out so you knew to click into them.

Not the end of the world if it's a chore to do though. Appreciate the replies, folks. :)

I hadn't thought about it but now that you mention it - mine are all blue also and I'm using explorer. Thats why I asked on an earlier post and now select the "view active topics" at the top of the page because it is hard to tell which topics are active (recent).

Yep, exactly. Here's my screenshot of this forum when your post above was still unread... all blue icons, no color-coding:

...and likewise, the icons on the overview page are all genero-blue whether I've looked at the recent posts or not.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I suspect this may be a Mac issue. We'll ask our web guru to get this fixed. :righton:

Is there a chance of getting threads with new/unread posts color-coded, like on the CGC forums? I find that since there's no visual differentiation between new posts and old, I have to scan the small post dates along the far right each time I look at a CBCA forum... particularly tough since there are groups of stickied threads at the top with old dates, and they look the same as new/active threads. I find it's a bit more eyestrain to look around here than on other forums.

Not the end of the world if it's a pain to do. Just thought I'd ask.

There should be an indicator for Forums and Threads with new posts. Note that the color scheme has changed from yellow to blue since this graphic was made, but the same idea applies. The contrast is not as high with the blue scheme, but it should be there.

Here's a quick legend:

Forum Index

Image New posts.......... Image No new posts

Topic Index

..Image New posts............... Image New posts [Popular]
..Image No new posts........... Image No new posts [Popular]

Note: The popular indicator signals a hot topic discussion with more than 25 posts.
.

If you are not seeing this, please let me know what browser you are using.

You should be seeing blue, the gold doesn't exist any more. That was from the NOD forum.

The reason all your bells are dark is because there are topics in each of these sections that you haven't viewed since the last post. To make the bell clear you have to view the last post in every thread in the section. Once you have done this it will be easier to know where unread threads are located. I hadn't thought about it, but this would be a problem for new members who have to open every thread before the dark bell will become clear.

Yeah... the Index color-coding as it stands now doesn't really work. I guess it doesn't operate like the CGC forums (where once you've clicked into a forum, the interface "refreshes" the color-coding to indicate you've read that forum). It looks like I would have to click in and out of hundreds and hundreds of old threads to get the dark bells of each forum to be clear. Let's just say I hope I'm never that bored!

Thanks again for trying, guys, anything that can be done is appreciated. Happy weekend!

I find the easiest thing to do is to click the "view active topics" link which shows which topics have unread posts.

Hi Jon

You can mark each individual forum as "read" without having to go to each thread. This graphic shows how.

Here is an updated graphic with the new color scheme. I will contact our web guy and see what we can do to indicate what is new since your last visit, rather than read and unread.

I figured it out....

How much is it worth to you?

The black dot means you have posted in that particular thread.
