This is from the Strange Tales Marvel Masterworks hardcover so the pages are very white.

New to this thread! Please welcome Bernard Krigstein!

Bernard Krigstein (aka Bernie Krigstein) (March 22, 1919 – January 8, 1990), was an American illustrator and gallery artist best known for his groundbreaking work in comic books. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Krigstein was trained as a classical painter. He is best remembered for his contributions to EC Comics during the early 1950s. At a time when many comics artists regarded their work as disposable, Krigstein struggled to expand the boundaries of what could be possible in the comics medium. Influenced by the Futurist painters and other aspects of fine art, Krigstein was one of the first comics illustrators to experiment with panels of different sizes and shapes in order to portray the passage of time. As he told a 1962 interviewer, "It's what happens between these panels that's so fascinating. Look at all that dramatic action that one never gets a chance to see. It's between these panels that the fascinating stuff takes place. And unless the artist would be permitted to delve into that, the form must remain infantile." Krigstein also used different art styles on occasion, when he felt it would match the emotional content of stories and characters.

Since being voted on to the Board of the NOD I haven't been focusing on this thread, but am hoping to start back in 2010. Here is a Christmas story I posted last year. Unfortunately, it is the only one I have found so far.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to try and start reposting the Friday afternoon stories, although perhaps I should call them the end of week stories as Friday is often busy at work.

Adventure s into Terror 27

January 1954 (one of the last pre-code issues)

Very distinctive cover by Atlas standards from Gene Colan and story by....Unknown.

This is meant to be a Joe Maneely cover, but there is a JS on the shovel. It is possible that John Severin had a hand in this one. Interior art is by Gene Colan.

Strange Tales 99 - Just read it. Loved it.
Humans fearing machines, seems like something out of a James Cameron movie. I love that the aliens have the technology to fly through through space and subdue an entire city with a gas that leaves them forgetting everything that has happened, but needs the robot to invade earth. Classic!
