Thanks to our own Mitch Jordan, upgrades to our forum have begun. Avatars are now available at the base of your Profile page. In addition, many new Smilies will soon be added along with other improvements.
Nice going MasterChief!!!! Image

(Anyone with questions feel free to pm Mitch)

Thx, Marnin. Here's some quick info...

Maximum Avatar File Size = 20KB
Maximum Avatar Dimensions = 75 x 75
(Height x Width in pixels)

If anyone would like help creating or modifying an existing avatar, just send a PM and I'll see what I can do.

:D

New smilies are uploaded and ready for use.

When drafting a post you’ll see only the first 20 smilies. If you want more choices, just click the link “view more Emotioncons”.

Image

Once the popup window opens, you’ll need to “maximize” the window to see all 87 smilies.

Image

If you want to know the emotion/gesture/expression of each smilie, just mouseover the image and text will appear describing it. Click the smilies to insert into your post or PM.

Enjoy!

I reduced the resolution on my scanner to get the file size below 20, but I don't know how to get the height below 75 pixels. Do I do that with my scanner of Photo Shop?

Issue: Post Subject line blank.

Solution: Automatically add a subject to the Subject Line when posting a reply.

As some have noticed, Post Subject lines were blank UNLESS the poster added a subject during reply post drafting. Often the SL was overlooked during posting and consequently numerous posts within a thread did not have a subject associated with post content.

Now, however, the SL will automatically populate with the threads topic title when posting a reply. Also, when reviewing a thread, you'll notice a subject for a post that didn't have one before (it will be the topic title).

Keep in mind, you still have the ability to edit the SL to reflect your post's subject if so desired.

Note: If you are replying to someone's post ("quote" button) and do not see a subject, just add one. What's happening is this: the post you are quoting never had a subject to begin with. The program can't put something in the subject line that wasn't in the original post and saved to the database. Confusing I know. Just put a subject and anyone who quotes your post will see a subject in their reply subject line. This should cover all bases going forward. Thx.

Do you need an avatar?

You'd really like to have one to help spice up the boards... but you don't know a pixel from a jpg or you get lost when it comes to compressing your image to less then 20,000 bytes.

Fear not, Friend. We've taken the mystery outta the whole pixel painting, photo manipulation process for ya and created some snazzy avatars for you to choose from.

Nine classic Marvel characters have been uploaded to the board's avatar gallery and are ready for your personal selection, here's all ya gotta do:
  1. Click the Profile button on the forum toolbar.
  2. Scroll down to the avatar control panel (it's at the bottom of the page), then click Show Gallery.
  3. To choose an avatar, check the radio button underneath the image and then click Select Avatar.
  4. That's it... you're done.

Item: Visual Imagery Signals New Post and Popular Discussion Alert

Several image indicators have been created and uploaded to help draw your attention to new posts since your last visit. Also included are animated images to indicate a popular discussion. The new imagery will appear on the Forum and Topic index pages. Here's a quick legend:

Forum Index

Image New posts.......... Image No new posts

Topic Index

..Image New posts............... Image New posts [Popular]
..Image No new posts........... Image No new posts [Popular]

Note: The popular indicator signals a hot topic discussion with more than 25 posts.

The Visual Imagery Signals are working on the new Topic Index posts, but not on the Forum Index , that is, using the Apple Safari browser at the OS X 10.4.10 Tiger operating system.

Amazing. I've tested it on three different computers using IE 6.0, IE 7.0, and Firefox 2.0 and everything looks a-okay. :dunno:

Nope, wasn't a fix, but no worries, I always see the Notification e-mails. :righton:

It's working now for me too Mitch. I restarted my MacBook Pro and that did the trick. :welcomesign:
