Pulps are a nice, affordable alternative to GA comics, especially if you're cover collector. There are some great pulp covers - GGA, bondage, weird menace, etc. - that would cost ten times as much if they were comic books.

Consider this example - you can get a nice mid-grade copy of Weird Tales 12/1932, the first appearance of Conan in any medium, for around $1000-$1200. That same amount of money won't even get you a CGC 9.6 Conan the Barbarian 1 from 1970. Which one one do you think is more common?

Resto certainly affects the value of pulps, but probably not as much as comics. I think there is more acceptance of conservation techniques with pulp collectors in general. One issue to watch out for is trimming. Many pulps have consideredable overhang and it was once a common practice to trim the overhang off in order to prevent edge tears.

I will pick one of these up at some point, the Allan St.-John cover makes it even more desirable.

I actually bid on it until about 35K. It just kept going. Got to see it in person though. It was beautiful. And the box that was made for it was really cool.

Heroic is a title I've grown to appreciate more and more (Everett!)...but it's tough to find these books with nice paper.
