Hi folks,

Up for sale is a collection of golden age Planet Comics! The Fiction House titles are some of the coolest in GA comics, with wonderfully imaginative stories and art, and Planets are particularly in demand. Try a few and you'll see why. :) They are also known for their lovely "good girl art"... and I'm including an interior spread photo or two for every book here to give some sense of it. So, hope you enjoy the show!

The grades range from Fair-to-Poor reading copies... some of which are actually pretty decent for their grades... to quite attractive VG-range books. A small handful of the books do have either slightly brittle or brittle pages, which I've been careful to note in the descriptions... if a description does not mention page quality, you can assume the pages are no worse than average for the grade.

These will be available exclusively on the CBCA boards this week. :righton: By Saturday morning, the thread will close and they'll most likely move to other venues, so do let me know if there's something you're interested in.

Payment by Paypal or US personal check, please. Shipping is extra at cost. As ever, I stand behind my grading; a refund is no problem in the event you're not pleased. Thanks for looking!

--Jon

Planet Comics #18 in .5. This is a reading copy which is missing the centerfold. Guess what? You'll love it anyway. :) Dynamic bondage cover by Zolnerowich; early "rivet logo" Planet and a very tough one to locate in any grade. Inside, sweet early golden age art with a healthy dash of GGA (the Gale Allen story is particularly nice). Even without the CF issue, this would grade Fair/Good to Good- ... most pages have a 1" tear in the bottom margin, similar to the cover tear at bottom, worn but holding at staples... that said, it's solid, readable, looks terrific for the low grade and the pages are supple.

Planet Comics #29 in .5. Reader of another fantastic early Planet, with stories drawn by EC great Graham Ingels and the talented Lily Renee! This book grades Fair/Poor, if not a straight Poor...the back cover has been married from another source and is not correct for this issue, though it is original and the correct vintage. Spine is restapled and taped from inside. On top of that, there's moisture damage through the book; while the pages are reasonably flat with minimal rippling, there is some discoloration/staining on every page (see photos). Whew! All that said, it's still a very affordable early Planet with a complete, highly enjoyable interior.

Planet Comics #32 in .5. Very decent lower-grade copy would grade around GVG, but the centerfold is missing. A book from one of the sweet spots of the run, kicked off by a very racy Lily Renee story, with lots of nice GGA scattered throughout the book. You'll enjoy this one.

Planet Comics #34 in 1.0/1.5. Classic "good girl in bondage" cover! Not only is the cover fantastic, but this particular lady's pose was swiped for many other Fiction House comic and pulp covers. This is a low-grade copy... the main problem is slight brittleness to some of the corners and edges, resulting in some chipping to the bottom right corner of some pages (see 2nd photo for the worst of it), and a somewhat weak/splitty spine with a bit of glue resecuring it. Also a tear through the "ET" of Planet on the cover. All that said, the book is not falling apart nor completely brittle... with reasonable care it can be read and enjoyed without further damage. Very decent reader/filler with a great cover.

Planet Comics #37 in .5. Sweet GGA cover, and great art and stories throughout by Lily Renee and others. This book appears to grade around Good, but unfortunately the first page is missing... the first story is obviously affected, but everything else is complete and the pages are nice and supple. There's also some tape along the open edge of the inside cover, and from that I suspect but am not sure that the cover's right edge has a very slight trim. Reading copy of a really fun book.

Great stuff, Jon!

BTW, I've posted a link to the sale on the CBCA Facebook page as well. :peace:

Thanks Steve, much appreciated. :peace:

And I'll be adding more books today and tonight... so for the lucky 4 or 5 of you watching, stay tuned! Plenty more to come, including some VG-range mid-to-late-run copies, more reading copies and lots more interior photos.

Planet Comics #38 in .5/1.0. Another great cover, but interior pages are brittle/rounded/chipped around the edges; covers and pages were near-completely split at spine and are resealed with glue. Still, looks decent and readable with care. More great art in this one.

Planet Comics #39 in 1.0. Classic "shark babe" GGA cover by Lily Renee! The cover looks incredible, glossy with excellent color strike, but the book is overall brittle and I have to call it a Fair. Page corners are rounded, with dry/chipped edges (see photos); while the book can be curled in hand and read through, a fair amount of care is needed when handling the edges. That said, an extremely attractive filler copy of a book that rarely comes around... likely a $150-200 copy without the PQ issue.

Planet Comics #46 in 1.8. But geez, the nicest-looking 1.8 ever. Flat & glossy book with terrific color strike. Spine split of an inch or so at bottom spine. Pages are slightly brittle around the edges, with chipping to bottom corners...but as you can see from the photos, no worse than "slightly". Another Planet with terrific art and stories.

Planet Comics #47 in 3.0. Very attractive black-covered book, general wear but very solid and clean. Front presents more like a 4.0. There's a 2" tear and some stains on the back cover. Supple pages. Nice one!

Planet Comics #53 in .5/1.0. This book is missing the back cover. Great GGA front cover looks clean and pretty, but is nearly detached from book... restapled at top, loose at bottom, easy enough to resecure but I'll leave that decision to the buyer. Reading copy with some awesome stories.

Planet Comics #55 in 3.0. Solid, quite attractive lower-grade copy with nice deep color strike and supple pages. Cool GGA cover (one of my faves from this part of run) and stories. Back cover has a corner piece out, and there's a 1.5" piece of clear tape at the top of the spine. Nice pages and book.

Planet Comics #56 in 2.0/2.5. Flat, pretty book with a sharp black cover... looks 4.0, but part of the spine was reinforced with clear tape for no apparent reason, and there's a hole in the back cover. Nice pages.

Planet Comics #58 in 1.5. Solid low-grader. Book has lots of general wear with fully-taped spine; some faint stains inside; cover has a bit of moisture rippling, but fairly minor, with no transfer to pages.

Planet Comics #62 in 3.5. Looks high VG range, flat & glossy. Two 1" splits, one at top spine with smaller horizontal tear on back, and one in middle of spine. Faint stains in right margins; pages have slight tanning on edges, though they are supple, not brittle. Nearly unbeatable eye appeal for the grade.

In a sense, yes -- a baby.

Most of these are from a big Comiclink lot I picked up recently... just looking to cover part of the initial cost by selling some off. No big hurry though.
