Those blinking icons....

.....are really annoying. Is there a preference to shut them off? I have to visit each forum, regardless of whether I have any interest in them, to stop their endless throbbing. Very distracting. Solid colors that don't flash would be better.

Ah... solved my own dilemma. I just hit "Mark forums read" and I will no longer risk an Andromeda Strain-style epileptic attack.
