This seller has listed and relisted the same books numerous times -- even when it appears an auction has been won. Also appears to knowingly hide restoration/trimming.

This book has been listed 4 times to date. Twice as a BIN which no one hit, and twice in auction format for significantly less than his BIN price. When I asked the seller why it was still for sale, he stated that the buyer backed out. Twice now? :wonder:

Note: It is clearly the same book, but pencil markings have been erased on the front cover and the tear at the spine has been sealed or closed up in some manner. Spine seems to have shifted to the back, so it was probably pressed. The brightness has been pumped up in the scan to give the cover a brighter, cleaner appearance.

Also note how the the back cover image has been cropped to conveniently hide the severe trimming.

Buy for $137, try to sell for $899. All you need to do is crop away any unpleasant trimming and erase some pencil markings to obscure the audit trail.

This is what gives the hobby a black eye, and sellers like this are responsible for driving away collectors who get burned.

Action 58 -- trimming still not disclosed! But is is described as "reverse cover has slight printers miscut." :yeahok:

Really? I wasn't aware that the printer could somehow miscut a cover about 3/4th of an inch shorter than the inside pages on all edges.

I went ahead and asked him for a better scan showing the "slight trim" issue but surprisingly I haven't heard back from him yet. :winkgrin:

Yes, shockingly, he has ignored my questions as well.

What's important is that threads like this exist. Now, if some potential victim does a search on the seller before bidding on something, this will show up in the search results. Ideally, this will live on long after the current auctions end. :righton:
