150K Captain America! Makes you want to go thru your piles of comics for those 9.9’s ! There seems to be a trend here. The Hulk 181 just recently sold for 150K. Should these really be worth this much or is someone manipulating the market? I would love the 100th appearance of the Cap to be this in demand.

I don't think any comic is worth $150K. When you think about it they're all just copies of the original work which to me is what would be worth that kind of money. I think it's the graders that are manipulating the market. :stircrazy:

We'll see if it sells at this price.

Is it possible they might find one person to pay this price? I suppose so.

But once that person has it, I suspect finding person #2 willing to pay that or more is going to be REALLY tough.

This was my biggest complaint about the Amazing Fantasy #15 that sold for $1 million. Just because one person was willing to pay that price for it doesn't mean that that should be the new benchmark. All the CGC Cencus tells you is that THEY have only seen X number of books in X condition. Heck, we all know that those numbers aren't accurate anyway. How are we to know that the 9.8 isn't a 9.6 or 9.4 that was cracked, pressed, and resubbed?

I don't care how close to a 10.0 a book is, some of these prices are getting ridiculous. Besides, tell me the difference between a 10.0, 9.9, or 9.8. At that point it seems that you are pretty much nitpicking.

Asinine. Just like the Nick Fury 1 9.9 for $150K or Iron Man 2 9.9 for $59K.

Then when it is time to go buy that NM you want, everyone quotes the insane price this and others went for as proof that you need to pay more proportionally for that crappy copy even of it is not rare or difficult to find. This is why you see an ocean of BIN’s on EBay and other auction sites. Greed at this level will kill this hobby like it did in the 70’s and 90’s.

It looks like it is miscut. You'd think a book would have to be perfect to get a 9.9.

Pretty fugly looking book. If you hid the label, I wouldn't pay $150 for it. Seriously.

It definitely doesn't look like a Mint book.

If there isn't any charge to listing, why not stick it up with a ridiculus price. The seller is obviously hoping to catch some uneducated buyer and take them for some dough. There is a copy of the Weird Tales first Conan issue (Dec32?) on the CGC boards right now at triple market value. When someone asked if it was a copy that just sold for $800 he was called rude. I think it is rude for a seller to try and fish for a naive buyer on the CGC Boards.

Definitely asking to be "given the business" without being given any business.

Calling out a crazy flip is a cardinal sin over there. :shame:

There aren't too many sellers left who subscribe to the philosophy that "I got it at a real good price and I'll pass it along to a fellow collector for a good price."
