Yes, that's the one. I saw a couple of them in Portland but the one I liked was $500 bucks and the one I could afford had spideys eyes colored in on the cover which didn't do anything for me (lol). So I'm still on the hunt but since the holidays are almost here, it along with #1 and 2 will have to wait until next year.

Just got this one in the mail yesterday and check out the red date stamp. Haven't seen big Red around here lately but I'm thinking it's a long lost Green River copy (that's my story...).

What's also interesting is the date stamp on #10 that Reds site has pictured is Dec 1963 (4 months later or 4 issues later). ;)

Ok. For those of you that may actually be interested in this... Here's what I found out from Brad (redhook) after sending him an e-mail. Basically, the date stamp on the ASM #6 matches one of the books in his collection but with the condition it's in (4.0 - 5.0), it would not be high enough to have come from the Green River collection. So it's safe to say it was most likely purchased at the same store the Green River collection came from. Interesting stuff.

Congratulations, Mike!! I know you've wanted this book for a long time.

I'm curious about the GR date stamp. Wasn't it likely a mass produced rotary stamp? Unless there is some unique flaw in a character, I dont see how it can be reliably determined.

That's my story and I'm still sticking to it. Rotary stamp or not, what are the odds both of the books were stamped in red ink on the same day?

Haven't looked through my collection in years, but it seems some of my books, including Amazing Spider-Man #17 are missing...I'm sure they'll turn up in one of my boxes in the closet.

Sweet books, Mike.

FF 57 is one of my all time favorite covers. VERY underrated. Better than 55 IMO.

Thanks Steve. Got a good deal from Dale Roberts and he said it was around a 4.0/4.5, which fits right in with my collection. One more to go which will have to wait until next year (numero uno). What's sad is what do I focus on next?

It took me 20 years to finish my ASM #1-64 set, with the bulk of them coming towards the end of the quest... and I have to admit, now that I finally completed the run I don't look at them all that much. Still a great run though, for sure. Nice #2! :righton:

That is so true! I have my run of Incredible Hulks that I hardly ever look at any more. Although, I still make sure the Marvel Value Stamp is in my #181 every time I get it out.

I think most people would say that they don't pay too much attention to completed runs, but it is nice to know they are there. For comics the fun is in the hunt. That is one reason why I have been drifting to art, because I can hang the nice pieces and see them every day.

I made a straight-up trade for this book and took a chance on it. I have a before and after scan of it. I was worried it had a tape pull but the spot was some kind of dried up food that I was actually able to remove (most of it). Anyways, here it is before it was cracked!

After... Notice I've already removed some of the goo including the smaller spot just above the large one between the D and O in Doom.

What? No love for ASM or was it the PGX case? I think it looks much better without the slab even it it's more a 4.0 by CGC standards.

Very nice color on that book... you can tell the paper quality is good. :righton: Ditko's Doom just seems a little softer around the edges... not as menacing.

In my experience, PGX is a bit optimistic in lower and mid grades. So I would expect a PGX 5.0 to be a CGC 4.0 - 4.5. But, it sounds as if you anticipated that, so :applause:

Very nice, Mike! It took me a while to find a nice midgrade FF 14.

First Silver Age book in a while... picked it up last month at Albany Comic Con. A nice tight VF+ IMO.
