Sorry to ask but what is the problem? I don't see a problem with using an old CGC case for storing or selling a book. It isn't like he is saying that it is graded or anything. :?:

I think a 4 mil mylar would be sufficient for that comic. It may very well be a Superman #1 but in that condition I see "zero" appeal. At that stage the thing should either be sent to an expert restorer like Susan or put out to pasture to :goodnight:

i would think he was probably worried that it would fall apart trying to cram it in a mylar. You might find this hard to believe I am NOT a mylar fan

That's a valid point. Mylars can cause potential nightmares when not paying close attention to removal or insertion of the comic.

It's a little mashoganna ( SP? ) IMO to use the most recognizable comic holder on earth, crack out a comic, stick in a Superman #1, and make your own label that looks like it was done in 5th grade art class.

Superman #1 deserves better than that!

I always send my books to CGC in bags and boards.

Just curious, is the BIN price realistic given it's condition? Keep in mind where I ranked this book in my Super 7!

I think the whole world has seen this by now, so my answer would therefore be no. This is a good example of how important PQ is....betcha' if the pages were OW/W and supple, there would be a fair chance it may have sold by now....... :wonder:

....as a coverless, brittle copy, there is nothing to offer a buyer, much less at almost $12k! (only thing left is 2 original staples, and they are certainly not worth $6,000 each :whistling: )
