Re: Most interesting comic I've seen

That is what I assume happened. Something similar happened in the collectible card game industry. Cardi Mundi was used to print most of the sets and they put a sheet of common Magic: the Gathering Fallen Empires fronts when printing cards for the Premiere Limited Edition of Wyvern. I have a couple o...

Most interesting comic I've seen

I found a comic that I don't think I've seen anything like it before. It is a Sgt. Rock #346 (15p price) that has an X-Men #139 interior. Or, more accurately, it is a X-Men #139 comic with a Sgt. Rock #346 (15p price). It is the first cross company misprint that I have heard of (DC cover/Marvel inte...

The "Sold at Shwang Stan's News Stand" stamp is funny! I also like the fact the police officer is trying to protect his bike instead of using it for cover.

What's wrong with this quote

This is from the latest CGC newsletter... "Although, like all CGC graders, Vince no longer commercially buys or sells comics, his love of comic books has not diminished. Coming full circle, he now pursues reading copies of his favorites, remembering that it is "where all the fun started." " I guess ...

Re: Post your EC Comics here!

That is really up to each individual collector. In case you couldn't tell, I like the Hulk. He appeared in Tales to Astonish #59 (in a Giant-Man story) and from 60-101 in his own stories. The title then switched over to The Incredible Hulk with issue #102. I personally thought just getting the books...

Re: Post your EC Comics here!

The way comic publishers saved money by changing the titles but continuing the numbering is so they didn't have to buy a new mailing permit. I read this in an article many years ago. To send out a comic at the reduced postage price the company had to buy a permit for each title. If they released 10 ...

Re: What do you consider the most important Bronze Age book

I think the most important thing is not first appearances, but changes in tone. For me its like this: 1. ASM 96... the changing of the code was the starting gun for all gritty comics that came after. 2. ASM 121... Gwen Staceys death was important not just for the death itself, but for the effect it...

Re: CVA Reports Strong Price Results - FOR REAL??

This is being done in the coin collecting business by a company called Certified Acceptance Corporation. They will review a slabbed coin and if it is a high quality coin for the grade assigned then they will put their seal of approval on it. So, basically, it'll tell you if the coin is in the higher...

Right now, I don't think you'll get anyone to make you an offer on the books. You aren't presenting enough information for anyone to make an informed offer. In addition to the information you have on your list, you should be listing the comic grade as well. Use the common grading scale, either lette...

Where are the comics can also play a part in how much someone offers. If they have to pay additional money to have them shipped then that could affect what they offer. What zip code would the potentially be shipped from?

Yeah, I'm not really sure what she wanted to get from your interview. As we can see, she must have used a REALLY small portion of what you actually talked about. Re: Comics for sale

First off, that is a nice set of books. One problem with selling them as a whole collection is that there will be fewer people interested in the lot as a whole as they would be in parts of it. While they are all Marvel, you have some people that only collect X-Men or Spider-Man, etc. They would not ...

I agree with Steve on that one. Kirby OA from the 60's probably wouldn't sell for much more just because of his sig on it. The fact that it is OA from him drives the pricing not whether or not it's signed.

Is PGX an option? Or is it just CGC!! I know they grade books but from what I have heard/experienced, they are not as accepted as CGC. I saw a YouTube video where the person broke open a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (supposedly a First Print) and discovered it was a Third Printing. Personally, i...

Careful in how you bring folks over. Mentioning that there is a great forum where one can talk about comic books and find answers to question is much more diplomatic, when in conversation over at CPG, than burn down their house because you do not like the admins. If the forums suck because there is...
